अशोकस्तारणस्तारः शूरः शौरिर्जनेश्वरः। अनुकूलः शतावर्तः पद्मी पद्मनिभेक्षणः॥३७॥

English transliteration

ashokas-tārana-stārah shoorah shaurir-janeshwara-ha ׀ anukoolah-shatā-vartah padmee padma-nibhekshana-ha

English meaning

336. Aśokaḥ – One without the six defects – sorrow, infatuation, hunger, thirst, birth and death. 337. Tāraṇaḥ – One who uplifts beings from the ocean of samsara. 338. Tāraḥ – One who liberates beings from the fear of residence in the womb, birth, old age, death etc. 339. Śūraḥ – One of great prowess, that is, who fulfils the four supreme satisfactions of life – Dharma, Artha, Kama and Mokṣa. 340. Śauriḥ – One who was born as Kṛṣṇa, the son of Śūra (i.e. Vasudeva, grandson of Śūra). 341. Janeśvaraḥ – The Lord of all beings. 342. Anukūlaḥ – One who, being the Ātman of all beings, is favorable to all, for no one will act against oneself. 343. Śatāvartaḥ – One who has had several Avataras or incarnations. 344. Padmī – One having Padma or lotus in his hands. 345. Padma-nibhekṣaṇaḥ – One with eyes resembling lotus.

336 अशोकः – सब प्रकार के शोक से रहित, 337 तारणः – संसार सागर से तारने वाले, 338 तारः – जन्म, जरा, मृत्युरूप भय से तारने वाले, 339 शूरः – पराक्रमी, 340 शौरिः – शूरवीर श्री वसुदेव जी के पुत्र, 341 जनेश्वरः – समस्त जीवों के स्वामी, 342 अनुकूलः – आत्मा रूप होने से सबके अनुकूल, 343 शतावर्तः – धर्म रक्षा के लिये सैकड़ों अवतार लेने वाले, 344 पद्मी – अपने हाथ में कमल धारण करने वाले, 345 पद्मनिभेक्षणः – कमल के समान कोमल दृष्टि वाले
